Intercytex
Intercytex Group plc is a publicly quoted British company and a leader in regenerative medicine developing innovative products to restore skin and hair. In addition to VAVELTA®, Intercytex has three other products in development:
- ICX-PRO (cyzact®), designed to stimulate repair in chronic wounds such as venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers
- ICX-TRC, a hair regeneration product being developed to treat male pattern baldness and
- ICX-SKN, a skin graft replacement for acute wounds.
Background: Advances in cell
biology, molecular biology and tissue engineering mean that today,
living cells can be used successfully as therapeutic agents for the
treatment of disease. Intercytex specialises in the isolation,
culture and expansion of cells and the manufacture and delivery of
cell therapy products. This enables the cells to be grown under
conditions that maintain functionality, allowing them to be
successfully used as therapeutic agents aesthetic medicine.
All Intercytex' products are developed from unmodified human cells.
Intercytex was founded in 1999 by Dr Paul Kemp, who is now its
Chief Scientific Officer. He has over 17 years of experience in the
commercial development of cell therapy. Prior to founding
Intercytex, he was VP Research at Organogenesis Inc. He is a
principal inventor on several patents related to regenerative
medicines including the wound repair stimulant, Apligraf®.
Intercytex employs around 80 staff. In addition to its head office in Cambridge UK, it has GMP complaint clinical production facilities plus research and development laboratories in Manchester, UK and additional laboratories in Boston, USA.
Intercytex is a public company. Its shares are traded on AIM on the London Stock exchange under the symbol ICX and on the Open Market and the Xetra trading platform of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the symbol IGJ.
